The inspiration for the bee hive or group of hexagons (that ultimately form one hexagon) was inspired by the nature of grants provided by the Stone Foundation. The grants work not towards a single cause but to network of organizations that work together to offer different complementary services, like a hub.
In addition, given the casual and modern culture of the organization, we went with a lower-case, sans-serif font in the logo.
